Marking time for new Atego June 2005
Surface line marking specialist Riggotts & Co has broken fresh ground by adding the first new-generation Atego rigids to its all-Mercedes fleet.

Founded by brothers Darren and Nick Riggott, and based at Tuxford, Nottinghamshire, the company is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Riggotts & Co provides a host of facilities maintenance services. As well as marking anything from an A-road to an indoor tennis court or play area, it applies high-performance surface coatings, provides specialist cleaning of buildings, removes graffiti and chewing gum, and maintains car parks and grounds.

Its new trucks are both Atego 1218 models and arrived via Nottingham dealer Mertrux. They have lined up alongside 11 other 12-tonners, a single 15-tonner and a long-bodied Vito van.

The more modern exterior styling – including a new grille and clear headlamps – of the latest Atego is perfectly complemented by Riggotts’ striking silver livery.

Meanwhile, the new, standard (S) cab, with its Distribution dashboard, represents a huge improvement on the previous model. As Riggotts’ Transport Manager Dave Corringham confirms, the makeover has won a resounding ‘thumbs up’ from the two-man crews – a chargehand and an operative – who use the trucks.

“It’s obvious that a lot more thought has gone into the design of this cab,” he says. “The result is an environment which is a lot more comfortable and user-friendly for the driver and his colleague – even the cup-holders are integrated now, so they can’t knock them off with their boots!”
