Notts Businessmen complete Talisker Trek June 2006
Four adventurous Nottinghamshire businessmen have successfully completed an arduous 30 mile trekking challenge – crossing the finishing line alongside a host of celebrity fund raisers including Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
The four spent the weekend tackling the mountainous terrain on the Isle of Skye as part of the Talisker Trek and raised £3,000 – well beyond their £500 target - towards the Woodland Trust’s appeal to plant 250,000 in the UK over the next three years.

Nick Riggott, Managing Director of Riggotts Facilities Maintenance in Tuxford, led the team and explained: “The going was extremely tough but we completed the course and we are delighted that we raised so much money.

“The highlight of the weekend for me was meeting Sir Ranulph Fiennes who was my boyhood hero. He was extremely friendly and helpful with tips on how to tackle such a challenge.

“We also met England Rugby player Dean Richards and Tom Avery – the youngest person ever to reach the North and South Poles.
“It wasn’t all hard work as we took part in various Highland challenges along the way which were great fun and finished up at the Talisker distillery for a well-deserved tipple!
“We have definitely got the expedition bug now and are turning our sights to finding the next fund raising challenge.”
